There's just a slider to adjust to choose how much you want to pump the audio. It increase the perceived loudness of a track, a bit like the Waves L1. The ones you'll want to use are the TC Maxit Master, The TC Native CL Master, and Spark ThreeBand. It comes with some nice sounding VST that you can re-use in Audio Hijack.

Also of interest is the multiband compressor. Dither at the end of the chain (with the NShape setting) smooth your mix in a subtle way that is most perceptible on a big, clear system. It does something similar to the Aphex Aural exciter, adding some pleasing harmonics to the highs, restoring the brightness and clarity that is lacking in mp3. Use the bypass button to listen to the treated/untreated sound. I then back up till I don't hear the distinctive sound it makes anymore then back a little more. I usually turn the 'Mix' half-way and do my settings. The one you'll most likely use first is the Green Oak excitifier (take a look at the docs here: ). Some free plugins come with Audio Hijack. One of the advantage is that you'll hear better what you do, and you will also sound good even on a not well tuned or crap system. And if you choose your plugs wisely and tune them well, the resulting sound can be life changing. The shift in latency can't be felt, even when you get reasonably heavy on the number of plugins you use. It takes the sound of any app, add some VST (or AU) to it, and hands it back to the sound card. True, people won't be able to really hear the difference, but trust me, they'll feel it. Add to that a big pumping system, and you'll sound worse than the guy who is playing vinyl or CD. Mp3, even when they are well encoded (and you bet mine are*), just lack something in brilliance and punch. What I want is to be able to use sound enhancing plugs to have a pro sound. I don't really need them for special effects like delay and such. One of the big lack of Traktor is that it can't use VST plugins.
